Every day, individuals with complex behavioral health and substance use needs are cycled through Colorado’s criminal justice system. Our goal is to stop the cycle by providing these individuals the care they need. Aurora Mental Health & Recovery’s Forensic Services programs partner closely with stakeholders in the justice system to provide client-focused care that helps individuals overcome barriers and reduce the chances they will reoffend.

Forensic Flexible Assertive Community Treatment (ForFACT)

ForFACT combines mental health and substance use services with case management to respond to the changing needs of forensic clients. We work with clients to develop a treatment plan and ensure access to physician operations, vocational services, wraparound services, and 24/7 crisis services.

Forensic Outpatient

Forensic Outpatient is a step down from ForFACT with less intensive outpatient treatment. We utilize individual therapy, group therapy, case management, urinary analysis, and even Medication Assisted Treatment where applicable. The program is not limited to individuals with mandated treatment.

Forensic Outpatient Referrals

Forensic Outpatient is meant for individuals involved with the criminal justice system with co-occurring treatment for mental illness and/or substance use disorder. Clients are seen in-person and virtually by their therapy team.

Aurora Sustained

Aurora Sustained is an entry point for individuals in custody, pre-bail bond hearing, and throughout the court process. We work in concert with the judicial process to address mental health and substance use needs at the earliest stage of engagement with the justice system.

Jail Based Behavioral Health Services (JBBHS) & Pre-Sentence Coordination

Operating out of the Arapahoe County Detention Center, JBBHS provides substance use treatment for individuals in custody.

JBBHS Services

Jail Based Behavioral Health Services (JBBHS) & Pre-Sentence Coordination provides individual therapy, group therapy, case management, and discharge planning. Pre-Sentence Coordinators help clients plan next steps to continue treatment and provide for their safety, employment, and housing needs.
